There is a little bit of confusion about coaching out there mostly with the amount of adjectives used before the word coaching. In this case, why transformational coaching? As the word itself describes, transformation means not only a change, it means the death of something in order to make room for something else completely new. Is a kind of metamorphosis occurring within a process of self discovery.
We describe this as a transformative shift, an AHA moment the client experiences when his/her perception changes. But, what is actually the meaning of perception?
Perception is the way we experience the world according to our own filters. Most of those filters are created in childhood by the family, culture, religion and other factors. This is how our belief system is created and it’s from here where we perceive the world.
Transformational coaching pretends to create a shift in the perception, a whole new way to see or experience the problem or situation. We encourage a learning process where the client is the main character. It’s a process of self understanding where the coach leads the client to uncover his/her own potential by removing the layers recognized as limiting beliefs.
